Our mission is to restore stability, dignity, and trust for the brave among us. Rebuild the Brave supports veterans, first responders, and survivors of DV and SA by helping them access benefits, connect to vital resources, secure safe housing through tiny homes, and empower communities to be part of the solution.

RebuildTheBrave.org was founded in 2025
We are survivors helping survivors.
Rebuild the Brave was born from lived experience—knowing the fear, the isolation, and the struggle of trying to heal without clear support. We’ve used and vetted the resources we share because we know how important trust is. Everything we do is driven by a simple belief: no one should have to navigate healing alone.

Wall Of Courage Hero: Phillip Wilson
Rank/Role: Volunteer Firefighter / EMT
Phillip Wilson served his community as a Volunteer Firefighter/EMT and is a man who has spent his life answering the call—no matter the time, weather, or personal sacrifice.
During his time in service, Phillip had two confirmed life saves. One of the most powerful moments was when he was first on scene at a major vehicle accident involving a van. As flames began to sweep through the vehicle, Phillip acted without hesitation and pulled the victim out to safety.
Phillip served with the following departments in Indiana:
Van Buren Township Fire Department (Bloomington, IN)
Ellettsville Fire Department (Ellettsville, IN)
Bean Blossom Township / Stinesville Fire Department (Stinesville, IN)
He is now medically retired, but his heart for others has never changed. Today, Phillip is a devoted father, husband, and “Papaw,” and truly one of the sweetest, most genuine people you could ever meet. He spends his time tending to the rabbits our family has raised for 25 years through 4-H, camping, and making memories with our grandbaby.
Phillip didn’t just serve—he loved it. He loved the brotherhood and sisterhood, and he loved facing each challenge head-on. He misses the long nights, the cold days on scene, and even the time spent at the fire station. He loved the feeling of accomplishment when things went right, and he valued learning from the difficult calls, the failures, and the bad runs—because he truly cared about becoming better for the people who needed him most.
He has put life on hold countless times—birthdays, anniversaries, even Christmas—just to be there for someone experiencing the worst day of their life.
One of the greatest examples of who he is came on my daughter’s 13th birthday: Phillip adopted her, even though she was conceived through rape, because he is the only father she has ever known. That is the kind of man he is—selfless, loyal, and full of love.
I truly believe that if Phillip could still go out that door today, he would—without hesitation—because helping others is who he is at his core.

Noel Cooper is the Founder and CEO of Rebuild the Brave, a mission rooted in faith, lived experience, and a deep calling to serve others. As a survivor herself, Noel understands firsthand how isolating it can be to navigate trauma, rebuild trust, and search for resources alone. Through prayer and obedience, she felt Jesus clearly lead her to create Rebuild the Brave—using her story, her skills, and her heart as a vessel for His work. What began as her own journey of survival has become a mission to ensure others never have to walk their healing path without support, connection, and faith.
As a former military wife, Noel is intimately familiar with the unique challenges faced by military families—the constant transitions, emotional strain, and resilience required to persevere. She is also a devoted mother to a child with complex medical needs, an experience that shaped her into a strong and compassionate advocate. Navigating medical systems, coordinating care, and speaking up when it mattered most taught her how to lead with both determination and grace.
Professionally, Noel brings a strong background in education and leadership. She holds a degree in education and spent many years serving as a Director of Education, where she led teams, developed programs, and built environments centered on growth, collaboration, and empowerment. Her strengths in leadership, team building, and strategic connection allow her to bring people together and ensure individuals and families are connected to meaningful, trustworthy resources.
In addition to her advocacy and leadership work, Noel is deeply grounded in the arts. She is a pianist with over 20 years of experience and has spent more than two decades involved in theater and dance. These creative foundations inform her approach to healing and community—using expression, creativity, and connection as powerful tools for restoration and courage.
At her core, Noel is a connector and a servant leader. She believes God redeems every story and that no experience is wasted. Through Rebuild the Brave, she leads with faith, empathy, lived wisdom, and an unwavering commitment to being a vessel for Christ’s love—helping others rebuild their lives, reclaim their courage, and remember that they are not alone.
